Dr. Kim Hsu

Associate Veterinarian - December 2019

Kim’s fascination with animals began during childhood in her mother’s Biology classroom–spending many after-school hours watching chicks hatch, catching frogs, and studying the details of various preserved creatures in glass jars. But it wasn’t until a college summer program spent in Kenya that she decided to make working with animals her career. Although born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii, she has now spent most of her life in the Pacific Northwest.  After graduating from Willamette University, she returned to the Big Island to begin the path to becoming a veterinarian and studied Animal Science at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She went to school with Dr. Anderson! Dr Hsu graduated in 2003 from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she met her husband, Andrew, and has practiced in the greater Seattle area ever since.

Dr. Hsu loves the variety and diversity of small animal practice; her areas of interest include challenging diagnostic cases, internal medicine, dentistry, and non-orthopedic surgery. She especially enjoys getting to know each of her clients and their pets, which allows her to implement distinct diagnostic and treatment plans specific to their individual needs.  She appreciates the privilege of helping to care for her patients through all stages of life–from preventative puppy and kitten treatments to difficult end-of-life decisions.

While not at work, Dr. Hsu enjoys running, playing tennis and trying to keep up with her husband and two sons, Jackson and Dylan, on the ski slopes.  Her family shares their home in Ravenna with two dogs, Ruby and Mookie; their cat, Little Mew Mew; and a few fish. They travel frequently to New England and Hawaii to visit family, but most often to Vancouver, B.C., to indulge in good Chinese food.
